Event Planning

Mental health problems are a huge issue for college campuses. As a member of student government, I had the amazing opportunity to organize, plan and lead two mental health awareness events at Utah State University.

The De-Stress Fest was a mental health fair that brought together various health resources from across campus, along with puppies, Play-Doh, and cotton candy, in order to give students a chance to unwind and learn about the places they can turn to if they have a mental health problem. From idea conception to cleaning up cotton candy crumbs at the end of the day, I was the lead and driving force behind this event.

The second event was called Light the Night. Held during Mental Health Awareness Week, this event was meant to honor those who have suffered through mental health issues and let them know they're not alone. A student who faces mental health issues was invited as a guest speaker and an on-campus acapella group performed a touching musical number. Once again, this event was a success thanks to me and the group of student leaders I was in charge of.
